Miscarriages are a heartbreaking experience for women of which they are reluctant to talk. Recurrent Miscarriage is the loss of two to three consecutive pregnancies called Recurrent pregnancy loss. It can include those pregnancies that were confirmed by test and ultrasound. At an early age, the reason for miscarriage was not confirmed but major advancements in reproductive medicine have helped in identifying the actual cause and can cure 60% of the cases.
Causes:
The risk of miscarriages increases due to genetic or chromosomal problems in aged women. There are some causes that could lead to Recurrent miscarriages.
- Uterine problem
- Immunologic factors
- Hormonal Disorders
- Genetic abnormalities
Treatments/tests:
Karyotype:
The health care provider would examine the patient if she is suspected to have Genetic problems. This test identifies and evaluates the size, shapes, and number of chromosomes present in a sample of body cells.
Genetic Screening:
If one of the parents has a translocation (rearrangement ), this can cause Fetuses(womb) with chromosome imbalances that are more likely to miscarry. Treatments like IVF(Vitro Fertilization) in which egg and sperm are combined outside of the body in a laboratory are appreciated. After IVF, embryos are returned to the uterus and can be tested through genetic screening.
Women having Thrombophilia(Clotting), uterus, fibroids, or scar tissue can go with surgery to have the accurate shape of the uterus to prevent miscarriage. Your doctor might suggest some more tests according to your present condition.
